About Me

In short, Jay-Analytics is a portfolio site. I have been working on data analytics professionally for over five years. I started working on my analytics using raw exports from various platforms and adding those too Google Sheets in order to calculate needed values and charts. As my dashboards became more and more complex it was needed to expand my skill set into a more robust reporting tool. For this I self-studied and completed several Skill and Career tracks on DataCamp including the following.

  • Associate Data Engineer in SQL Career Track
    • Estimated 28 hours
    • 9 Courses ranging across SQL, Database Design, and Data Warehousing Concepts
  • Data Analyst in Tableau Career Track
    • Estimated 42 hours
    • 9 Courses ranging across Introduction, Creating Dashboards, Data Visualizations, and Statistical Techniques in Tableau

Through these I was able to expand my skill sets and to play a key role in the migration of the previous Google Sheets dashboards into shareable Tableau Dashboards. In addition to utilizing Tableau for our new Dashboard we also utilized Tableau Prep for data cleaning prior to producing the visualizations. We developed workflows for exporting the data, transforming it as needed, and loading it into a .hyper that could be read by our dashboard. Although the new dashboard is proprietary to my employer this site has the aim of showcasing other Data Analytics I completed on my personal time.

I've really enjoyed expanding my skill set to include Tableau and fully interactive dashboards and continue looking for additional public data to visualize and analyze.
